foggy mornings in delhi

another 48 hours to go before i am greeted by foggy delhi days and cold nights. it's perfect season to be afflicted by the seasonal affective disorder.

this classic by Hitchcock is  a must see, for its sheer dramatic sequences, all in the space of one room. great story-telling.

delhi.....here i come

don't be fooled by that headline....i have always hated delhi and if someone has had the foresight to start a hate delhi club, then i am in, as life member.....why? the cold, the fake people, the fake attitudes, the power play, just abt gets to me...the only redeeeming grace, all those historical monuments that breathe, and chandni chowk, the most living, bearable place in the city....already, i shiver to think of the cold that will greet me...i see my brilliant brain freezing in anticipation......hmmmm.....all ye readers, forgive me if yu don't hear from moi for quite a while ...call it the five-year moratorium on thinking that comes with all delhi sojourns...

majidi has come up with a love staory that isn't. memorable, with the Afghan refugee problem simmering in the background and some great camerawork and editing, as usual. now, that completes three films by my fav director, all different in theme, but united in their humanitarian focus. do watch this movie and children of heaven and the color of paradise.

sea inside finally!!

happened to catch that on zee studio. don't know what to make of it. i mean, is it right to ask for assistance to die? is it cowardly to think that? is it difficult to make that choice? is it tough living the way the character in the movie, Ramon (played by Javier Bardem), has been doing? the rights and wrongs of it are extremely grey. catch it if you can!

missed a friend's wedding

it was supposed to be a trip down memory lane, into a city that spawned and later spurned many a dream. hiccups, not entirely under my control, led to its cancellation. now i am rueing why i didn't go. anyway, may be i will make it later. hope 2008 is a time for meeting and renewing old ties.

too cold to think

the cold wave looks like it will kill. after 9 my brain shuts down, and refuses to wake up before 9 the next day. which leaves precious few hours for eat, sleep and telly time..reading and blogging, and introspection seems to have become muddled by the sub-10 degree weather. god, at this rate, i will dread delhi, if i have to go....
