if only everyone grimaced instead

of grinning vapidly, then the fetid online alley ways would be more tolerable...

lost friends on orkut

they seem to be connected...karmic discord comes to haunt yu even online...and wonderful days of madness kept simmering in turgid cups of tea suddenly seem so mundane in virtual snapshots...a grinning face here, a profile shot there..or some curves to beat the midnight grumble....where were these lost souls, bak i college everyone seemed so nihilistic....now the same lot seem to be cryogenified into virtual mindspace, exchanging fervent greetinsg and pleas for friendships....where is the fine art of sitting across a rickety table and mumbling of broken hearts? orkut seems to have replaced that table.....thank god for blogs (TGFB)..............

what makes the world go around?

hmmmmm.......

iPod fetish

let me confess. for about a couple of years now, i have had one abiding technology fetish. apple may have invented the iPod, but that has where it has left off. to make a fetish of an electronic object that has, let's say, redefined how music is consumed, for it is consumed these days, and how photographs and movies are stacked up into a virtual library of gargantuan proportions, is the easy part. what is harder, is to acquire the object of your desire. now, after pursuing amazing austerities of the yogic variety, i must gleefully say that i too have arrived. with this 160-gb black beauty i have finnaly unshackled music, movies, fotos, and contacts from terra firma. it is as you all know, my emotional security on the move. thanks to steve jobs, bach and brahms, yesudas and rahman, ilayaraja and ilanjithira melam have started cohabiting. what next from apple? maybe a gizmo that will convert thoughts into song, novel or verse!!!

i decide to be an intellectual (pretensions and all)

Sarkozy may frown, but i am about to gladden many a french heart, if not their eyes, by deciding to turn intellectual. why? because it is the second most lazy thing to do apart from laziness itself. which suits me fine, as i definitely do not dislike lazy people, and if they are intellectually lazy then i do not detest them even more. we need thinkers who can sit in an armchair, or in my case, a bean bag, and pontificate on the best vaccine cure for the deadly HIV, or on the pleasures of being an autorickshaw driver, especially one who refuses long, traffic-stopper trips to the hinterland. so, here's to a remainder life of intellectual vigour and supine reflection, and oh! maybe a bad back!

ho hum....

This 20:20 was exciting, heart-stopping fare. Pak nearly pulled it off. But waiting for the ozzie series to start.

verse is over before prose starts to form

poetry, especially in the writing, seems easy, quickfire, like Twenty20, and is like a tsunami unleashed upon hapless feeling. to me, verse comes before all. verses of want and longing and familiar despairs.

you have been gone a long time
and aeons separate our shared dreams.....

is it possible to pick up the shards of a dream shared long ago? and keep it from splintering further. maybe. maybe not. there are years to live to know.

speaking of rain, and a face in the raindrop

i remember
staring at a pouring rain
through thick-glass windows
one night after work,
and you, barely a few feet away
discussing the apostrophes of life
with a colleague,
an after-dinner gossipy interlude
before more work,
we were just metres apart,
secluded from the torrent,
breathing in the soft breeze,
yet in different worlds--
worlds hyphenated by a
seeping divide that refused
to yield to paeans of want

back to blogging

it's been nearly a month. no blogs, just the thought of it. no poetry, no short history of space and time. absolutely like an average joe, circa pre-internet. felt good. now, writing, letting the thoughts run dry on black keyboard is equally liberating. surfeit of rain and laziness, coffee at 10:30, sleep at 9:30, reading, poking fun at the raindrop, squabbling with tiny-tot cousins, all fun.

looping rain and sparkle

kerala during the rains, for those who know, is nothing short of a miracle on terra firma. this is my lazy vacation in god's own country. the first really lazy one since school.
